The Whole Armour of God…

Don’t Leave Home Without It

Ephesians 6: 11 tells us to “Put on the whole armour of GOD…”. It doesn’t say to just read about it, “put it on”. I wonder how many Christians really “put on” the whole armour of GOD? Probably very few. And yet we are commanded to. We know from other scriptures that we are the army of the LORD. He is our Commander-In-Chief and He commands us to “put on” this armour. So, since we are commanded to “put it on”, how do we do this? For the Word of GOD to work in our lives we must first believe it and then confess it. As we confess it by faith the LORD hastens to perform it. Jeremiah 1:12 says “Then said the LORD unto me, Thou hast well seen: for I will hasten My Word to perform it. So we “put it on” by believing it and confessing it. I “put” mine on every morning. Just like I wouldn’t think of leaving home without putting on my clothes, I don’t leave home without “putting on” the whole armour of GOD. And notice it says the “whole” armour. Make sure you put all of it on! I “put it on” by confessing it out loud. Not that my way is the best, but for sake of illustration here is the way I do it. I open my Bible to Ephesians 6 and begin to read at verse 10. Here is what I say: “I am strong in the LORD and the power of His might. I put on the whole armour of GOD that I may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places. Wherefore I take unto me the whole armour of GOD, that I may be able to withstand in the evil day and having done all, to stand. I stand, therefore, having my loins girt about with truth, and I have on the breastplate of righteousness: And my feet are shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace; Above all, I take the shield of faith, wherewith I shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked. And I take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the Word of GOD. And I pray always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit and I watch thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all saints; And for me, that utterance may be given unto me, that I may open my mouth boldly, to make known the mystery of the gospel, For which I am an ambassador in bonds; that therein I may speak boldly as I ought to speak. And I’m confident of this very thing, that He which has begun a good work in me will perform it until the day of JESUS CHRIST.”(Ephesians 6: 10-20 and Philippians 1: 6.)You may notice that all of this is “frontal” armour. None of it is for the back. So we don’t ever run from the enemy. We face him, fulled armoured knowing that we already have the victory. The whole armour of GOD….don’t leave home without it!
