No Matter How or When

Psalm 150:1-5 (NRSV)-

Praise for God’s Surpassing Greatness

1 Praise the Lord! Praise God in his sanctuary; praise him in his mighty firmament! 2 Praise him for his mighty deeds; praise him according to his surpassing greatness! 3 Praise him with trumpet sound; praise him with lute and harp! 4 Praise him with tambourine and dance; praise him with strings and pipe! 5 Praise him with clanging cymbals; praise him with loud clashing cymbals!

How often do you think about praising God outside of church on Sundays?

In Psalm 150, the psalmist encourages us to praise God every day and in every part of our lives, no matter how good or bad. To this end, he writes, “Praise him for his mighty deeds; praise him according to his surpassing greatness!

God is great all the time, not just on Sunday. And, he values and cherishes time with us. As such, he wants to be a part of our daily lives and our daily praise.

Since God is great in all things, we can praise him in every way. So, there is no limit to how, when, or where we can praise God.

We could be driving down the road and say, “God, thank you for allowing me to have a safe drive.” We could hanging out with friends, and whisper, “God, thank you for surrounding me with a community that cares.” Or, when we are going through a difficult season and say “God, thank you for teaching me and leading me through this.”

Today, since praising God in every circumstance gives us joy and pleases God, let’s glorify him with every act of praise, no matter what shape or form.

Father God, we no matter how, please guide us to give you thanks and praise in all circumstances. In Jesus’ name, we pray. Amen!
